If your frequent flyer miles are expected to expire this year, then have no fear.
This was the message from Caribbean Airlines to its Frequent Flyer members yesterday.
“Caribbean Airlines advises its Frequent Flyer Members that any miles due to expire during the period March 1 2020 to December 31, 2021 have been extended by one year. There is no cost to members to extend or reinstate these miles,” CAL stated in a release yesterday.
CAL said despite correspondence may have received they have not cause for concern.
“The airline notes that some customers may have received e-mail communication stating that their miles are due to expire. However, Caribbean Airlines assures its valued members that the systems to facilitate the extension are in place,” it stated.
“Holders of Frequent Flyer tickets will also have all fees waived and their miles redeposited into their accounts, until they are ready to fly again,” CAL stated.
The closure of this country’s borders to help stop the spread on the COVID-19 pandemic has affected air travel.
Because of an increase in COVID positive cases in the country within recent weeks the domestic air bridge between T&T began operating at a reduced schedule from Wednesday.
“From Sunday, August 16 to Tuesday, August 18, additional services are in place to accommodate inter-island travellers. Thereafter, the airline will continue to closely manage the air bridge and adjust its operations as required,” CAL stated,
“Customers are advised that a waiver is in effect for the domestic date change fee for tickets purchased until August 30, for travel until September 30,” it stated.
CAL said to ensure social distancing on flights, passenger loads will be limited and the airline is urging the public to travel only when absolutely necessary.
All customers must wear face masks at check-in, while boarding and during the flight.
“Caribbean Airlines assures its stakeholders that the cabin and flight crews are operating in full compliance with the instructions of the Public Health Authorities and follow strict protocols,” it stated.
