Car destroyed by fire in Pleasantville

Investigations are ongoing into a fire that destroyed a car early this morning at an apartment complex in Pleasantville.

Police said around midnight Kwesi Kalla, 39, parked his white Mazda 3 in the parking area between two apartment buildings at Cassia Avenue. He secured his car and then went to his apartment.

However, at 3.50 a.m. Kalla was alerted by a commotion outside the building and on checking he saw his car on fire. The fire was subsequently extinguished by firefighters under the supervision of Fire Sub Officer Hurbert of the Mon Repos Fire Station.

The car valued at $100,000 was completely destroyed. Officers of the Mon Repos Police Station including WPC Rennie and PC Mohamed visited the scene. PC Mohamed is enquiring.
