Police report a major breakthrough in their investigations into vehicles being stolen from several car parks at various malls in North Trinidad.

A Chinese national was among three persons detained in connection with a mall, car-stealing ring.

Police said they believe that the arrests come as a major breakthrough in their investigations into vehicles being stolen from several car parks at various malls in North Trinidad.

According to a police report, at about 1 pm on Wednesday, police officers received intelligence about a stolen vehicle being housed at the Lady Young Road, Morvant.

A party of officers supervised by Snr Sup David and Insp Robert Joseph, of the Northern Division’s Special Investigations Unit went to the location, where they found and seized a white Hyundai Tucson SUV.

The vehicle was reported to have been stolen on Tuesday, during a home invasion at Maracas, St Joseph.

Three people were detained at the Morvant location, including the 38-year-old Chinese national; a 46-year-old man from Greenvale; and a 40-year-old man from Malick in Barataria.
