Caura is usually one of the busiest places in this country on a Monday.
But even as the number of people infected by COVID-19 increases and despite calls to avoid crowds and maintain social distancing, a few people defied warnings and still took a chance to lime at Caura river.
Speaking with Guardian Media today, one school maxi driver from Penal said he had the week off and was “not worried and unbothered by the threat of the coronavirus.” He said he wanted to have a small lime and decided Caura River would be the best place.
With music blasting and the smell of duck being curried, people appeared to turn a blind eye to the warning by the authorities to safeguard themselves.
On Sunday the Ministry of Health confirmed there were two additional cases of persons affected with COVID-19, bringing the total to four.
