Newly appointed CEO - CGCL Pedro Arasa

Pedro Arasa has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Caribbean Gas Chemical Limited (CGCL).

Arasa took up the position on August 2nd. He replaced Nakaba Aoyagi who served as CEO from 2019 until earlier this month.

Masaaki Omote, Chairman of the Board of Directors at CGCL said; “The Executive decision to appoint Pedro Arasa demonstrates the company’s recognition of his extensive knowledge and experience in the sector and his ability to steer the company through the next phase of its growth and development at this pivotal time in its operations,”

Arasa held the position of Plant General Manager at CGCL since the start of construction in 2015.

According to a release from the La Brea based methanol and DME plant; “Mr. Arasa is no stranger to CGCL having held the position of Plant General Manager at the company since the start of construction in 2015. Mr Arasa holds advanced degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Simon Bolivar University, Caracas, and has completed executive programs in Finance and Managerial Science. He has over forty (40) years of progressive experience in plant and corporate management within the energy industry and has held a range of technical, safety, commercial, operational and leadership roles in several multi-national companies.”

Arasa will be responsible for stewardship of the joint venture, t petrochemical company, which comprises both local and international shareholders including the National Gas Company and Massy Group.

CGCL attained Commercial Operations status on December 18th, 2020 and has been producing and shipping methanol since September 2020.
