A former school teacher will appear in a virtual hearing before a Siparia Magistrate today, charged with three counts of impersonating a police officer.

According to police, 58-year-old Robin Krishna Maharaj was arrested last Friday at the Siparia Police Station by officers of the Special Operations Response Team (SORT) and officers of the Siparia Criminal Investigations Department (CID.)

Police say Maharaj repeatedly presented himself as a Police Inspector at the Siparia Police Station.

However, when asked to present his TTPS identification card, Maharaj could not.

A search was done of his Eygpt Village, Endeavour home, where police found he had a vehicle fitted with a radio set and swivel lights.

He was arrested and charged on Monday 18th January 2021.
