A 40-year-old man has been charged for after attempting to ship a quantity of cocaine to the United Kingdom in a recipe book.

On Monday, John O’Neil appeared before a Scarborough Magistrate, charged with the possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

According to reports, the Signal Hill resident was arrested after he gave a woman a package to post via a shipping company.

It is alleged that when the package was examined by members of staff, they found a plastic packet containing 60 grammes of cocaine with a street value of $30,000.

John O’Neil was subsequently arrested and charged.
