A 34-year-old man appeared before Magistrate Maureen Baboolal-Gafoor at the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court yesterday and was charged with sexual penetration against a minor. Details follow in this press release from the TTPS:
A 34-year-old man from Cocorite was denied bail when he appeared before Magistrate Maureen Baboolal-Gafoor at the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 7th September, 2021.
The man was charged with two counts of sexual penetration, three counts of sexual touching, one count of administering a dangerous drug to a minor, namely alcohol. The matter was adjourned to 19th October, 2021.
The man was arrested on Thursday 2nd September and charged on Sunday 5th September, 2021, after police conducted inquiries into a report made on 5th April, 2021. The report alleged that between April 2020 to March 2021, a 13-year-old girl was sexually penetrated on two occasions, sexually touched on three occasions, and was given alcohol to drink on one occasion.
The investigation was supervised by Ag W/Supt Claire Guy-Alleyne, W/Sgt Simmons and Ag Sgt James. WPC Lawrence conducted the investigation and was assisted by Snr Supt Oswain Subero, IATF and the Western Division Ops Team.
