A Colombian national was arrested after police officers found seven kilogrammes of packaged marijuana at his home.
The arrest was made during an anti-crime exercise on Sunday 15th November 2020 which was a joint effort between the Western and Northern Divisions. The charges were laid today.
According to police reports, the exercise saw officers making their way to Macoya Settlement, Tunapuna, based on information received. The premises, occupied by 25-year-old Nelson Fabio Ureche Navas, was searched and an orange coloured market bag which contained seven kilogrammes of the packaged drug was allegedly found. Navas, who is from La Guajirua, Columbia, was arrested and taken in for further enquiries to be conducted. He was charged and will appear virtually before a Magistrate today.
