The Works and Transport Ministry has issued another gentle reminder to motorists have any transfers of vehicle registration completed on or before 1st February 2022.
In an advisory on its social media pages, the Ministry issued the reminder, and also reminded the public that appointments are necessary to conduct any transactions at the Licensing Division. Those should be scheduled via the ministry’s website at https://licensingappointment.mowt.gov.tt/.
The following is the advisory issued by the Ministry titled, “Further Extension of The Validity of Certain Documents Issued by the Licensing Division and the Period in which to complete the registration of transfers of Motor Vehicles”
The Ministry of Works and Transport wishes to remind members of the public of the amendments to sections 19 (7) and 61B of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act, Chapter 48:50. The amendments were operationalized by the Miscellaneous Provisions [2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV)] (No. 2) Act, 2020 (section 7).
Given the impact of the ongoing State of Emergency and the COVID-19 Pandemic on the operations of the Licensing Division, Cabinet of Trinidad and Tobago has taken a decision as follows:
1. Driving permits, taxi driver licences, badges, certificates or other documents issued by the Licensing Division which expired on or before 31st January 2022, shall be deemed valid until 1st February 2022.
2. Any transfer of vehicle registration required to be completed on or before January 31st, 2022 may be completed on or before 1st February, 2022.
Members of the general public are asked to pay particular attention to the dates specified in this document.
Persons seeking to conduct any transactions at the Licensing Division must utilize the online scheduling appointment portal at https://licensingappointment.mowt.gov.tt/. Customers are encouraged to explore all available timeslots at licensing locations nationally if your preferred location is unavailable.
Persons with proof of travel itinerary needing to conduct vehicle transfers or renewals prior to the date of travel can visit any Licensing Office without an appointment.
