Homicide detectives were on the scene of a murder in Barrackpore early this morning, after receiving reports of the killing of a 52-year-old construction worker.

Guardian Media understands the victim has been identified at Rajkumar Bisnath, also known as “Blackboy” and “Bobby”.  He was found dead at his Cumuto South Trace home with his throat slit.

According to police, Bisnath was last seen alive by his friend around 3 pm on Monday April 19th, at the junction near his home. The 41-year-old friend also lives at Bisnath’s residence.

The friend told police he returned home around 5:30 am and found Bisnath lying in a pool of blood with a cut across his throat.

Initial information indicates that Bisnath’s common-law wife moved out of the house a year ago after she became ill and currently was staying at her daughter’s home.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information comes to hand.
