A police officer assigned to the Community Oriented Policing Unit located at Riverside Plaza Port-of-Spain is now under investigation following a dispute with his wife, 35, where he allegedly placed his firearm to her neck on Saturday night.
According to a police report, the couple was at their Maloney Gardens home at about 11 pm when they got into an argument while sitting on the bed.
The husband, 44, the police officer became enraged and allegedly assaulted her by pushing her against a wall and pulled out his firearm from his waist and placed it on her neck saying ‘what you’re going to do now’.
The victim’s son came into the room to find out what was going on, the accused then pointed the firearm at him.
The victim then stood between her husband and her son to block him.
The victim and her son then left their home to make a report at the Maloney Police Station.
Enquiries are ongoing by officers of the Gender Base Violence Unit.
