Police officers believe they have arrested four gang members—including the leader—during an anti-crime exercise carried out in the wee hours of Monday 21 September 2020, in the North Eastern Division.

According to an official statement issued by the TTPS, the North Eastern Division Task Force carried out several searches at 7th Avenue Malick, and the Councilman Circular areas, during the exercise, which was conducted between the hours of 3 am and 8 am on Monday.

Police report that three persons who are all known associates of a gang leader, as well as the gang leader, were arrested in connection with several shootings in the division.

During the exercise, in a separate incident, while the officers were searching an abandoned gold coloured Nissan Almera at Councilman Circular, eight (8) rounds of 9mm ammunition was found on the front passenger seat.

No one was arrested in connection with this find.

Investigations continue.

The exercise was spearheaded by Snr Supt Winston Maharaj, Supt Maynard-Wilson, Ag/Supt Alexander, ASP Pariman, Insp. Ramsingh; and coordinated by Ag/Sgt Martin; and supervised by Cpls Daniel and Duncan. It included officers from the North Eastern Division Gang Unit, North Eastern Division CSI, Air Support and the K9 Unit.
