RHONDOR DOWLAT-ROSTANT

The Police Service is confirming that police officers found and seized a loaded firearm next to a primary school in Pt Cumana.

According to the TTPS, the find was made after officers on an anti-crime exercise received certain intelligence that led them to its location.

The weapon reportedly is a Jennings 9mm pistol and was loaded with four rounds of ammunition.

Police said at about 5 pm on Saturday 9 January 2021, officers of the Western Division Task Force—led by Snr Sup Thompson and including PCs Genty, Sahadath, and Rogers—went to a football field near the school where they found a black plastic bag.

Inside the bag they found the loaded firearm.

The TTPS reports that the same anti-crime operation also led to the arrest of a man from Carenage along the Western Main Road, after he was found with 17 grammes of cocaine in his possession.
