Police are continuing their probe into a firebombing incident in the Cocorite area on Monday morning, in which a 92-year-old man was killed.

The man’s elderly wife, said to be in her 80s, currently is warded in a critical condition at hospital.

A 24-year-old man also was killed in the area; however, it is not yet known if both incidents were connected.

According to a police report, at about 11:40 pm, Akiel Andrews of Waterhole Road, Cocorite, was shot dead while behind the steering wheel of a car (a white B13) at Harding Place.

Police said Andrews was shot multiple times and died on the scene.

A few hours later, at about 4:45 am on Monday, a loud explosion was heard at LP No. 7B Harding Place.  Residents, upon making checks saw a grey coloured concrete house with galvanized roofing engulfed in flames.

Police and fire officers responded, and the flames were quickly extinguished.

However, police found the body of George Graham lying in the yard on the left side of the house.  Police say was dead at the scene, and his body burnt.

His wife, Eldena Lewis, also was found burnt and in the yard.  She was taken to the hospital where she was treated and warded.  She is in a critical condition.

Residents told police that Lewis reportedly pulled Graham out of the burning house and in doing so suffered burns to her back.

Police are yet to determine a motive for the deadly firebombing incident.

Investigations are ongoing.
