The Couva Point Lisas Chamber of Commerce (CPLCC) plans to assist small businesses to get back on their feet when the retail sector opens on Monday.

Chamber president Mukesh Ramsingh said so in an interview with Guardian Media yesterday at the Chamber’s headquarters, Camden, Couva.

He said the Chamber would be doing walk-ins for the AstraZeneca vaccines starting tomorrow.

Ramsingh said several businesses would not be able to restart because of a number of constraints.

He said the Chamber planned to get these businesses moving using an online platform for marketing.

Ramsingh said also that the Chamber does not believe that a large amount of business would remain closed.

He said, “The reopening on Monday is very much welcomed. We understand that some businesses will not reopen. The ones that do reopen there is going to be a struggle as when the food sector opened. Most businesses are in clothing sector and these businesses tied in with each other. Because of the fact that bars are closed and there are no social events, it’s going to be a struggle.”

Ramsingh said the Chamber will continue its second dose drive of the Sinopharm vaccine today. He said the AstraZeneca vaccine would be distributed in limited amounts and advised persons to call the Chamber to make an appointment or they can just walk in.
