The Couva Point Lisas Chamber of Commerce (CPLCC) plans to assist small businesses to get back on their feet when the retail sector opens on Monday.

Chamber President, Mukesh Ramsingh, confirmed the Chamber’s plans to Guardian Media on Friday, as he made the announcement of its vaccination initiative this weekend—the Chamber would be doing walk-ins for the Astra Zeneca Vaccine starting on Sunday.

Ramsingh said several businesses would not be able to restart because of a number of constraints. He said the Chamber plans to get these businesses moving using an online platform for marketing.

The CPLCC president also was confident there would not be a large number of businesses remaining closed.

“The reopening on Monday is very much welcomed. We understand that some businesses will not reopen. For the ones that do reopen, there is going to be a struggle as when the food sector opened,” he observed.

He added: “Most businesses are in the clothing sector and these businesses are tied in with each other. Because of the fact that bars are closed and there are no social events, it’s going to be a struggle.”

Ramsingh said the Chamber will continue its second dose drive of the Sinopharm Vaccine on Saturday. He said the Astra Zeneca vaccine would be distributed in limited amounts and advised persons to call the chamber to make an appointment or they can just walk in.
