The Judiciary is advising that the Couva District Court will continue with Virtual Court Hearings until further notice, as its physical premises have been closed for sanitisation.
In an official statement, The Judiciary explains that it has become necessary to vacate the building as a precautionary measure because of possible COVID-19 exposure among staff.
“A member of staff has been exposed to someone who has been tested for Covid-19 and is awaiting test results,” the release states. “While the staff member has not been confirmed as Covid-19 positive, the usual precautions for this level of exposure have called for the current course of action.”
The release adds: “Please be advised that no one will be allowed into the Court building. The sanitisation of the facility will be conducted and there shall be no in-person hearings or activities. Virtual Court Hearings will continue.”
