The 2020 edition of the Tobago Great Fete weekend has been postponed.

The announcement was made by the organisers of the event, Sandbox HD Entertainment yesterday.

The promoters said they delayed the decision with the hope that things would have changed with the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

“We delayed this decision for as long as possible with the hope that things would’ve changed enough for us to offer some sort of relief after these months of lockdown.”

“The world has changed significantly over the past months and we have been quickly adjusting. We understand that this is a trying for many. While we are sad to share this news we continue to remain positive with the hopes that the world will recover and return to some state of normalcy soon.”

Sandbox said they were guided by the Government’s response to the present Covid-19 global pandemic

“We will continue to monitor the situation and in the end make the right decision which will be in the interest of our patrons safety.”

The Great Fete Weekend was scheduled to be held from July 22 to July 26.

The five-day event was known for signature events such as Welcome Wednesday, Reggae Thursday, Soca Glow, We Fete and Callaloo, with high powered performances by local, regional, and international artistes.

GFW is one of the most anticipated events on the Tobago tourism calendar, which sees over 10,000 patrons attending the event.
