The country has recorded yet another death due to COVID-19, raising the local death count due to the pandemic to 96.

The Ministry of Health revealed the statistic in a press release issued yesterday evening but revealed no further details about the deceased patient.

It also revealed that 16 additional persons, who had submitted samples between last Thursday and Saturday had tested positive for the virus.

According to the ministry, the new cases raised the total active cases to 1,549.

Of the active cases, 55 patients are in step down facilities, 81 in the ministry’s parallel health care facilities, and 1,413 are in home self-isolation.

State quarantine facilities are currently housing 299 persons.

Since the start of the pandemic in March, T&T has recorded 5,297 positive cases with 3,652 patients recovering.

Up until the time the release was issued, 31,483 persons had been tested for the virus.
