A Cuban national is expected to appear before a Port-of-Spain magistrate today, Wednesday 28 October 2020, after being charged with the murder of Jhandrys Espinoza, a 32-year-old Venezuelan national, who was three months pregnant when she was killed.
Guardian Media understands that on Tuesday, the Director of the Public Prosecutions Roger Gaspard SC gave instructions to charge Cuban national Aroldo Vidal Gutierrez with murder.
According to a police report, last Thursday at about 7.45 pm, Espinoza and the suspect had a confrontation at their home at Flagstaff Hill, St James.
During the confrontation, Espinoza was strangled.
Espinoza’s body was found in the bedroom of her home the following morning.
The Cuban national will go before the Port-of-Spain Magistrate Courts, today.
