Cummings, Rambharat discuss youth agricultural programme

Minister of Youth Development and National Service Foster Cummings, today, welcomed the Minister of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries Clarence Rambharat to his St. Clair office, where they discussed collaboration between their respective Ministries on agro-entrepreneurship opportunities for youth.

An official statement said Cummings shared with Rambharat, his Ministry’s plans for a Youth Agricultural Homestead Programme, a Farm School in Moruga and a Youth Development and Apprenticeship Centre (YDAC) in Wallerfield.

Rambharat expressed his commitment and support for the work of the Ministry of Youth Development and National Service. He indicated that these agricultural initiatives had the potential to contribute towards food security.

Cummings indicated that a partnership between the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries and the Ministry of Youth Development and National Service would undoubtedly lend itself to realizing Pillar 6 of the National Youth Policy, where ‘youth contributions to rural transformation, agricultural production, and food security are emphasized and young people’s participation in agricultural production is prioritized and incentivized across the value chain.’

The Ministry of Youth Development said it remains committed to working with key stakeholders for the continued advancement of the youth development agenda for Trinidad and Tobago.
