A 40-year-old man from Debe who was waiting in Arima to meet a potential buyer for his car, was gunned down on Monday night.

The victim has been identified as Darin “Smalls” Harnarine, of Lalbeharry Trace, Debe.

According to a police report, at about 7:30 pm on Monday, Harnarine and a friend were at the corner of O’Meara Road and the Priority Bus Route, Arima, waiting to meet someone who was interested in buying his Nissan Tiida.

The friend left him to go to purchase an item at a nearby shop.

Police said Harnarine, who was left alone in the vehicle, was ambushed by an unknown gunman who shot him several times.

Harnarine’s friend found him bleeding and called the police.

Harnarine was taken to the Arima Hospital; however, he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Investigations are ongoing.
