The body of a man was found on Thursday afternoon in an apartment complex in Curepe.  The body was said to be in an advanced state of decomposition.

According to a police report, at about 3.30 pm, residents called the police and informed them of a foul stench coming from the apartment building, located at Mc Inroy Street.

Police said the residents checked for themselves and found the decomposed body in one of the apartments.

Officers from the St Joseph Police Station and the Homicide Bureau responded, along with the District Medical Officer, who viewed the body and confirmed that it was in an advanced state of decomposition.

The body was ordered to be removed to the Forensic Science Centre in St James for an autopsy to determine the actual cause of death.

Police said they were told the deceased was last seen alive about three weeks ago by other tenants of the said apartment complex.
