Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly Ancil Dennis has told Tobagonians that they don’t have to change the administration of the THA to get what they need.
He was the first to speak last evening when the Tobago Council of the People’s National Movement launched its election campaign leading up to the December 6 election.
The virtual launch with the 15 candidates took place at Shaw Park.
Dennis, who is contesting the Bucco/Mt Pleasant district warned that Tobagonianas should not be duped by Watson Duke and the Progressive Democratic Patriots.
He said change is coming from within the PNM as more new candidates are coming and highlighted Franka Cordner, 21, the PNM’s candidate for Parlatuvier/L’anse Fourmi/Speyside, as an example of the changing face of the party.
Dennis said under the present PNM administration the THA has standardised all contracts for public employees to a three-year term that would benefit persons seeking loans from financial institutions. Dennis said many workers were in a quandary because they had one-year contracts.
He said the THA has also made the decision to establish a Training and Development Centre to improve customer service on the island. He said the training centre would benefit both the private and public sector as the THA strives to improve customer service on the island, especially in the service sector. Dennis said the THA would also be developing estates in some areas including Cannan, Moriah and Argyle that would be distributed to farmers to boost food security on the island.
