The Coast Guard, fishermen and relatives of Westmoorings diver Reinaldo Novoa continued their search for him late yesterday after he disappeared off the coast of Manzanilla on Sunday.
Novoa, 66, a retired nurse and pharmacy representative, went diving and was last seen 18 miles off Manzanilla point around 3.45 pm.
In a Facebook post, his son Reinaldo “Robbie” Novoa Jr pleaded with boat owners and fishermen from Toco to the Columbus Channel to join the search.
Up to mid-afternoon, the Coast Guard confirmed that their search continued and there were no reported sightings.
Sea patterns indicated that the currents would have taken him north toward Toco and search crews forecasted that he could reach land around 3 pm.
However, this was not the case.
An aircraft scoured from Matelot to Manzanilla and went east to Tobago but still no sight of Novoa.
Relatives said he is a strong swimmer and a diving instructor and at the time of the dive, he had buoyancy equipment.
