Homicide detectives are still trying to piece together the circumstances that led to the death of a doctor in his office at Kew Place in Port-of-Spain on Monday.

Investigators told Guardian Media that Constables Prince and Salvary, who are attached to the Central Police Station, went to the building after a call was made to the E-999 Command Centre about the discovery of Dr Penco Reyes’ body.

When the officers arrived at the scene shortly after 4.30 pm, they were directed to a locked office on the second floor of the building. On reaching the glass door of the office, they saw what appeared to be the decomposing body of a man near a desk.

Homicide officers were contacted and had to break the door of the office to gain access.

Police said they will now have to wait on the results of an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Homicide detectives are continuing investigations into the matter.
