The Downtown Owners and Merchants Association (DOMA) has expressed sadness at the news of the passing of Snr Supt of Police of the Port-of-Spain Division Terrance Nobbee.

DOMA’s president Gregory Aboud said in a news release, “We owe police officers a debt of gratitude for their dedication and should honour their service by protecting ourselves and obeying all the restrictions and guidelines for Covid-19.”

He described Nobbee as a “dedicated officer well known to us at DOMA. He served Port-of-Spain with distinction by embracing the challenge of protecting the city.”

Aboud recalled that during their first meeting, soon after his appointment, Nobbee gave his mobile number to its committee and invited them to call him regarding the protection of Port-of-Spain at any time of day or night. “On the occasions that we did call Mr. Nobbee we can say with pride that he and his officers responded positively and effectively. The Police Service and the city of Port-of-Spain have lost a fine, upstanding officer and a devoted citizen.”

“We wish to add that police officers are on the front-line of the battle against the pandemic by serving the public in all situations without knowledge of who is and is not vaccinated and also without knowing who is positive or negative for the virus. In this regard, we owe police officers a debt of gratitude for their dedication and we wish to suggest that we should honour their service by protecting ourselves and obeying all the restrictions and guidelines for Covid-19,” Aboud said.

“On behalf of the Downtown Business Community, we wish to convey our sincere condolences to Mr Nobbee’s family and his friends. To the Commissioner of Police and to the men and women of the Trinidad & Tobago Police Service we thank you and sympathize with you on the loss of your senior colleague,” Aboud added.

Nobbee succumbed to COVID-19 on Monday.
