Double murder in St James

A security officer, whilst on duty at a post in St James, was conducting a routine patrol when he discovered two men dead, just after midnight on Sunday.

A security officer, whilst on duty at a post in St James, was conducting a routine patrol when he discovered two men dead, just after midnight on Sunday.

The victims were identified as 22-year-old Shevon Williams alias “Chevy” and “Salt” from Waterhole, Cocorite, and Atiba Welch of Sangre Grande.

According to a police report, at about 12:50 am on Monday (25 January 2021), officers went to Rosslands, Bournes Road, St. James, where they met with the security officer of the S.W.A.T. Security Company.

The security officer told police that at about 12:15 am, he was on duty at Standby Power located at Rosslands, Bournes Road, St. James, when he heard several loud explosions.

He checked and discovered the bodies. He subsequently contacted his supervisor who later arrived at the scene.

Crime Scene Investigators retrieved seven 9 mm spent shell casings and four projectiles.
