Homicide detectives have received instructions from the Director of Public Prosecutions to charge a Fyzabad man with the murder of Teneil Cupid.

The 41-year-old man is expected to appear virtually before a magistrate tomorrow.

Cupid’s nude body was found in a forested area at Well #8, Syncline Road, Santa Flora, on October 13, hours after her mother made a missing person report at the police station.

Police said around 3.15 pm that day, a WASA employee stumbled upon her body in a forested area off Syncline Road. An autopsy revealed she was stabbed several times.

Three weeks before, Cupid, 23, had broken off a relationship with the man and was staying at her mother’s home at Easy Street, Fyzabad. Relatives said around 10.20 pm the day before she was discovered dead, she had left her mother’s home with the man to get something to eat. He was arrested at his home the day after Cupid’s body was found.

Cupid was a CEPEP worker and had two children, ages six and four. Cupid’s funeral service took place on Tuesday in San Fernando.
