Hundreds of people got their vaccinations within 15 minutes as Proman Limited executed the third day of drive-through mass vaccinations at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva.

With only 25 volunteers, the initiative was lauded for its efficiency and professionalism as it was rolled out seamlessly throughout the day.

As news circulated on social media, people without appointments also came. These walk-ins were facilitated in a separate section while the drive-through vaccinations took place simultaneously.

The former head of the National Operations Centre, Garvin Heerah, was also on hand to oversee operations. People came from throughout the country for vaccines.

Vidya Thomas of Arima said: “This is excellent service. I registered for the vaccine online and I got through. I am a teacher, and my elderly mother is bedridden, so I wanted to get vaccinated,” Thomas said.

Dr Nathaniel Anoop, who is a volunteer, said 570 vaccines were given on the first day, while 1,100 were done on the second day, and 1,000 vaccines were scheduled for Wednesday.

He said the event was well coordinated because of the professionalism and efficiency of the volunteers.

Brent Thomas and Renaldo Codrington, who also were vaccinated, said they were thankful for the kindness and patience of the staff.

Codrington said he was nervous at first but felt happy as he was out of the venue within 15 minutes.

The drive-through vaccination process at Ato Boldon Stadium will continue throughout this week.
