Investigations are continuing into a deadly shooting in Cocorite where one man was killed and two others wounded.

According to a police report, shortly before 1 pm on Tuesday three employees from Doc’s Hardware, Diego Martin went to Dunlop Drive to conduct a transaction.

On completion of the transaction, they were shot at.

The men subsequently drove out of the area and their vehicle crashed on the eastbound lane (ramp) Western Main Road, Cocorite.

The driver Triston Robinson of Waterwheel Road, Diego Martin died on the scene and the other two were wounded.

One of the injured men is from North West Drive, Diego Martin while the other is from Bagatelle Road, Diego Martin.

Police were unclear as to exactly what the transaction was that the men conducted but they are working on the theory that the murder and shootings were connected to that.

Pensioner among three gunned down

A pensioner was among three people killed on Monday in shooting incidents in Tunapuna and Arima.

In Tunapuna, police said around 7:30 pm four people were liming at the corner of Stratham Lodge Street and O’Keefe Street when a white Nissan Almera drove up to them and stopped.

The occupants of the vehicle opened fire injuring the four people.

All four were taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex.

However, police said 19-year-old Josiah Copeland was already dead. It is believed he died at the scene, while Vaugh Derrick Charles, 68 succumbed to his injuries while undergoing emergency treatment.

The two others who were also shot and wounded are currently listed in critical condition at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident around 11:45 am on Monday Shaquille Pereira, 25, of Cross Trace, Brasso, Paria was at By-Pass Road, Arima in the vicinity of River Lime Ranch when a white van pulled up.

A man came out of the van armed with a gun and opened fire on Pereira, who attempted to run off but was still shot.

He was taken by officers of the Arima Municipal Police to the Arima Health Facility where he succumbed to his injuries.
