Sgt Allan Khan of Eastern Division Task Force said PC Marcus ‘Marco’ Henry was an integral part of the task force. Sgt Khan said he built a bond with his colleague and was considered a family member.

Sgt Khan was speaking at the Memorial Service for PC Henry, who died of COVID- 19, at the Sangre Grande Police Station compound on Wednesday evening.

Officers as well as loved ones attended the service and lit candles in PC Henry’s memory.

PC Henry was described by his colleagues and senior officers

as a jovial, dedicated, disciplined, respected, passionate and a responsible officer.

“Very serious with his work and is never tired to go the extra mile in the fight against crime. His objective as a policeman was to make Sangre Grande and environs free from all criminal elements and their illegal activities so that residents can feel secure and safe and enjoy their freedom. He really had the charisma as a crime fighter, an individual which is very hard to find,” said Sgt Khan.

Inspector Ramlakhan, head of Eastern Division Task Force, described PC Henry as “salt” saying he was involved in everything.

“His memories will forever live with Eastern Division,’ he said.

Whitney Henry, PC Henry’s widow told Guardian Media her husband was a role model and the best husband and father.

“He was a family oriented man, loved his children and wife. He taught me to understand what fatherhood was really about as my father had died when I was a child.”

She said before her husband passed he asked to see his children, which she was able to do via WhatsApp.

PC Henry’s widow said she is now facing life as a single parent and lamented the tremendous loss she and her children face without him.

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints also performed at the memorial service.
