A 60-year-old man of Morvant is now homeless after fire gutted his home on Sunday.

According to a police report, the home of Glendist Simon, located at Mon Repos Road, Morvant, was completely destroyed at about 5 pm on Sunday 7 February 2021.

Fire officers from the Belmont Fire Station were able to respond quickly, soon after the fire broke out at the 100-feet by 70-feet structure, .

However, when they got to the scene, the one-storey five-bedroom concrete structure already was engulfed in flames.  The fire officers extinguished the fire; however, the inside of the house was completely destroyed.

The value of the structure is yet to be ascertained, as well as the cause and origin of the fire.
