EMA: Air quality in T&T at Moderate Levels

The Environmental Management Authority (EMA) has announced that the air quality level in Trinidad and Tobago is at moderate levels. The EMA is advising that sensitive persons reduce outdoor activities. Details follow in this press release from the EMA:

The Environmental Management Authority (EMA) wishes to advise the public, that the current “Air Quality” level in Trinidad and Tobago is Moderate. The increase in Particulate Matter (PM) is attributed to Saharan dust. It is therefore advised that unusually sensitive persons reduce heavy or prolonged outdoor activity.

The EMA, through its National Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Network and Air Quality Index (AQI) programme has been obtaining accurate, real-time assessment of ambient air quality in several locations nationally. There are currently four (4) Ambient Air Quality Monitoring stations in Trinidad and Tobago. Three (3) are located in Trinidad (Port of Spain, Point Lisas and San Fernando) and the fourth station is located at Signal Hill, Tobago.

Earlier this week the EMA delivered a virtual demonstration of the Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Network on social media – https://youtu.be/LGa5Bwkwoio

Members of the public are advised to visit the EMA’s website (www.ema.co.tt/air) and social media pages for daily updates on Air Quality in Trinidad and Tobago.
