Ex-cop loses gun after bee attack

Investigations are continuing into a report of lost firearm belonging to a former police officer of Sangre Grande.

According to a police report, at about 3.30 pm on Monday, the 56-year-old former police officer, who is the holder of a Firearm Users’ Licence, reported to the police that he was in an area off the Turure Road, Guaico, Sangre Grande, in the vicinity of White Boys Quarry, when he was attacked by a swarm of bees.

He told police he was in fear and ran towards his vehicle, which was parked a short distance away, where he took refuge. On checking, he discovered that his Glock 9mm pistol, loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition, which was tucked in his waistband, missing.

He reportedly told police that he waited for a couple hours and made checks but could not find the firearm.

He said he returned the following day and again searched the area but the gun was not found.

Acting Cpl Osouna and a team of officers from the Eastern Division Task Force, together with PC Phillip of the Crime Scene Unit visited the scene and an investigation was done. The firearm was not found.
