A 40-year-old man from Port-of-Spain has been charged for kidnapping and robbery with violence.
The charges stemmed from Facebook messages between the victim and a woman he befriended on the social platform.
It is believed that the woman helped orchestrate the victim’s kidnapping and robbery.
According to a police report, on January 25 the victim, went to Monte Grande, Tunapuna to meet the female Facebook friend.
Police said when the woman entered his car she asked him to reverse into a side street which he did and was subsequently approached by three men, one of whom was armed with a firearm, who announced a robbery.
The victim was bundled into the back seat and taken to an ATM machine where he was forced to reveal his PIN number to the woman and one of the three men.
Police said the duo withdrew an undisclosed amount of cash.
The victim was then taken to Bamboo 2 in Valsayn where he was thrown out of his vehicle.
The suspects then drove off.
A party of officers acting on information received went to Nelson Street, Port-of-Spain where they arrested a suspect.
The suspect was subsequently charged for robbery with violence, kidnapping and the unauthorised use of ATM bank cards.
