Yogesh Singh and his family are getting help to rebuild their Felicity, Chaguanas home which was destroyed by fire last week.

Chaguanas West MP Dinesh Rambally says he has spoken with several Good Samaritans, including members of the central business community and private contractors, who have pledged to come forward to help the six-member family recover from their loss.

“The family is awaiting a final report from the Fire Service and is in the process of applying for a Self-Help Grant from the government. The Ministry of Social Development has also been approached to access whatever help is available,” Rambally said in a press release.

Chaguanas Mayor Faaiq Mohammed also visited the family offered to use the corporation’s resources to clear up and remove the rubble of the burnt-out building along the Cacandee Road.

Businessman Richard Ramkissoon has also arranged rent-free lodging for the Singh family until their home is refurbished.

A fire of unknown origin hit the family house last Wednesday. Singh’s two children, who attend primary school, were at the time occupied with online classes and had to flee with the rest of the family from the raging fire.

The principal at the children’s Felicity Hindu School and the Parent/Teachers’ Association have already stepped in and provided devices to ensure the children continue their online studies.

Singh thanked all the Good Samaritans for their support in helping them to help rebuild and get through this tragic time.
