Police are looking for six men who invaded a house in Caroni, held hostage four family members including a 72-year-old man and a 66-year-old woman, and escaped with $.8 million in loot on Sunday morning.

The two other victims of the home invasion included a 45-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man.

The incident occurred at Herreira Trace in Kelly Village, Caroni.

According to a police report, at about 11 am on Sunday July 25th, the family of four were in the living room and kitchen areas when six suspects reportedly entered their home and announced a hold up.

It is believed the men gained entry to the house by opening a gate at the back of the house, climbing up a flight of stairs and entering the main house through a back door.

One of the suspects reportedly pointed a firearm at the two younger victims and relieved the young woman of her I-phone 11 cell-phone valued $8,500 along with a quantity of gold jewellery.

The five other suspects then pushed all four victims into a guest bedroom of the house and demanded money.

The suspects then proceeded to ransack the house and took approximately TT$380,000 in cash, US$33,300 in cash and a quantity of gold jewellery and cell-phones valued at TT$15,700.

Police said the total value of items taken were approximately TT$880,000.

Reports are the suspects then escaped with the loot.

The victims eventually managed to get help from their neighbours who called the police.

A party of police officers arrived at the scene and processed it for evidence.  They also recorded statements from the victims, who are said to be highly traumatized.
