RHONDOR DOWLAT-ROSTANT

A father and son are expected to appear before a Port-of-Spain Magistrate today, on charges of obstruction, and possession of ammunition.

The two were held during a police exercise along Bridge Road, Diego Martin, which took place between 5am and 9am on Thursday morning.

Guardian Media understands that officers of the Western Division Task Force were walking along a track in a forested area off Imbert Circular, when they saw a man known to them exiting a house. Police said the man was holding a PVC pipe in his hands.

Reports are when the man looked in the officers’ direction, he dropped the PVC pipe and ran away.

The officers gave chase and held him a short distance away and the PVC pipe was retrieved.

The officers examined the PVC pipe and found three rounds of ammunition wrapped in a pair of underwear. The man was subsequently arrested.

The man’s father, on seeing his son being arrested, allegedly confronted the officers and obstructed them during the execution of their duty.

As a result, he was also arrested and charged.
