A 49-year-old man has been charged with five counts of sexual penetration of a minor.

The suspect was arrested on last Saturday following a report made by a 16-year-old girl that she was allegedly subjected to years of sexual abuse by her father.

According to the girl, the last assault occurred at 7 30 am on October 19 at their home.

WPC Myers, of the South-Western Division Child Protection Unit (CPU), took lead of the case during which she discovered that the girl was allegedly abused since the age of 11.

Upon learning of the report made to the police, the suspect reportedly ingested a combination of Malathion, power steering and brake fluids.

He was rushed to the Point Fortin Area Hospital and subsequently transferred to the San Fernando General Hospital where he received treatment and was seen by the Hospital Psychiatrist.

Last Sunday, the accused was discharged from the institution and taken into police custody.

Yesterday, WPC Myers arrested the accused who was charged for the five offences.
