Homicide officers are probing the murder of Ronald Brown, a father of four who was gunned down near his home on Friday night.
Witnesses told police that Brown, aka Ronnie of Upper Hillside Street, San Fernando was standing near the Blind Welfare Office on Coffee Street around 10:36 pm, when a man ran up to him and fired at point-blank range.
The gunman then ran down Lower Hillside Street where he escaped. Police said Brown’s family went to the scene of the crime and stayed well past 2 am after his body was removed.
When Guardian Media attempted to visit his family before noon on Saturday, a neighbour walked out and started threatening reporters in an aggressive tone. Brown’s family could not be reached by phone.
Police are calling on members of the public to assist in solving the murder by calling 800-TIPS or the nearest police station.
