Fire guts old PTSC buses

The shells of eight Public Service Transport Corporation (PTSC) buses were destroyed in an early morning fire at the PTSC’s Carlsen Field ‘grave yard’ yesterday.

In a brief interview, PTSC chairman Edwin Gooding said the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Services were still investigating the cause of the fire.

Gooding was unable to provide any details on the incident. Asked to address rumours that the buses were deliberately set on fire, Gooding said he could not comment.

But he did say the destroyed buses were only shells of buses sent to the graveyard to be sold for scrap.

A similar incident took place at the same location in February 2018, during which six buses went up in flames.

Gooding said that incident was caused by a bush fire in the area. He said the bushes around the PTSC graveyard were cleared after that incident to prevent any repeat.
