Fire leaves 7 homeless

Seven people are now homeless after a fire destroyed their house in San Juan, on Monday night.

The occupants of the house have been identified: as Michael Hosten (owner), Dale, Daryle and Sarah Hosten, Hamilton, and Alyssa Wilson and Arya Phillip.

According to a fire report, at 8.05 pm, a fire broke out at the two-storey house at Plata #2, Bagatelle Road off Saddle Road, San Juan.

Fire officials said the house was well-alight in the lower level when they arrived.

That area housed the family’s kitchen, television room, storeroom and two bedrooms, which were completely destroyed by the blaze.

Fire appliances from the San Juan, Wrightson Road and Woodbrook Fire Stations responded, but were unable to extinguish the flames in time.

A cause and origin of the fire is yet to be determined.

Fire Prevention officers were expected to return to the scene for processing on Tuesday morning.

No one was injured.
