37-year-old Firefighter Satesh Ramkissoon died at the Sangre Grande Hospital on Tuesday 15 December 2020, after being struck by a truck, while standing at the side of the road waiting for transportation to work.

A fire officer was knocked down and killed by a truck in Mayaro on Monday, while waiting for transportation to work.

37-year-old Firefighter Satesh Ramkissoon died around 12:30 am today, at the Sangre Grande Hospital.  He was attached to the Mayaro Fire Station.

According to a police report, around 3:50 pm on Monday 14 December 2020, a truck was proceeding along the Naparima Mayaro Road when a car tried to overtake the truck.

Police said at the same time, the truck veered into the path of the car, causing both vehicles to collide at Balata East Junction.  The truck then slammed into a culvert and struck Ramkissoon, who was standing on the side of the road.

Ramkissson, of Bristol Road, Mayaro, was taken to the health facility and then transferred to the Sangre Grande Hospital, where he died this morning.
