Firearm found in recovered stolen vehicle in Princes Town

A firearm and quantity of ammunition were found in a vehicle which had been reported stolen, during an anti-crime exercise in the Princes Town district, early on Saturday morning.

A  firearm  and  quantity  of  ammunition  were  found  in a  vehicle which  had been reported  stolen,  during an anti-crime exercise in the Princes Town district, early on Saturday morning.

According to official police reports, Southern Division police officers  were  on  mobile  patrol  along  Realise  Road,  Princes  Town, around 2:45am, on Saturday 3rd October 2020, when they observed a white Hyundai H-100 motor vehicle with two masked occupants proceeding in the opposite direction.

The  officers reportedly gave  chase  and  the  vehicle  stopped  a  short  distance away. The two occupants exited the vehicle and made their escape.

A search of the vehicle resulted in officers finding a pistol loaded with  a  magazine  containing  two  rounds  of  ammunition. They had been hidden  in the driver’s side door.

The  vehicle  was  subsequently  found  to have been reported stolen, previously.

Investigations are ongoing.
