Five persons were arrested for varying offences and a pistol and quantity of ammunition seized by officers of the Northern Division during an anti-crime exercise in Arima yesterday. Officers of the Northern Division Task Force, Area East, conducted the exercise between 10:00 am and 7:30 pm. According to police reports, officers proceeded to Hill Street, Maturita Extension, Arima, where they found one pistol loaded with eight rounds of ammunition and a quantity of marijuana. Five persons, ages 23 to 43, all from Arima were also arrested for varying offences including possession of firearm and ammunition, narcotics possession and on outstanding warrants. Investigations are ongoing.
