Food relief hampers have been given to persons in the Chaguanas West constituency, who were affected by heavy rains and flooding recently.

The relief items—food boxes from NAMDEVCO—were distributed on Tuesday 3 August 2021 by Member of Parliament Dinesh Rambally, and local government Councillor Richard Rampersad, with assistance from constituency supporter Richard Ramkissoon.

The Chaguanas West MP, who is recovering from a slight muscle injury that has restricted his mobility, said he kept in constant contact with the chairman of the Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation (TPRC) Kwesi Robinson as flood relief efforts were being conducted.

MP Rambally personally handed out the NAMDEVCO food boxes to scores of residents of La Paille, as well as the La Paille and Caroni settlements, all of which are situated on the flood plain of the Caroni River.

In addition, hampers that were allocated to the Chaguanas West Constituency by the Ministry of Agriculture, Lands and Fisheries, were given for distribution to Councillor Richard Rampersad (St Augustine South/Piarco/St Helena), and Samuel Sankar (Kelly Village/Warrenville), both of the TPRC; Councillor Amit Sooknanan (San Juan/Laventille Regional Corporation): and Councillor Wendy Francis (Felicity/Endeavour) of the Chaguanas Borough Corporation.
