Foreign Minister and IDB Rep discuss T&T’s post-COVID development

Development opportunities and digital transformation were among the topics of discussion when Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Senator Dr Amery Browne, met recently with the new Country Representative of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in Trinidad and Tobago, Carina Cockburn.

Development opportunities and digital transformation were among the topics of discussion when Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Senator Dr Amery Browne, met recently with the new Country Representative of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in Trinidad and Tobago, Carina Cockburn.

An official statement from the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs reports that on Friday 6th August 2021, Ms Cockburn met with Dr Browne in a virtual courtesy call, during which they discussed opportunities for cooperation between Trinidad and Tobago and the IDB.

According to the statement, they “identified Digital Transformation, in areas such as education, health care, and national security, as an important driver in the transformation of Trinidad and Tobago in the post-pandemic period.”

“Minister Browne and Ms. Cockburn agreed to build on the existing collaboration between Trinidad and Tobago and the IDB in pursuit of Government’s Vision 2030 priorities for the development of Trinidad and Tobago,” the release stated.
