Four arrested, stolen items recovered

Four men were arrested yesterday (Monday 28th December 2020), shortly after they committed a robbery at a variety store in Chaguanas.

A release from the Police Service states that the proprietor of a variety store located at Endeavour Road, Chaguanas, reported to police that around 4:35 pm yesterday, three men entered her business place, with two of the men brandishing firearms and announcing a robbery.

The businesswoman reported that the men proceeded to rob her of a quantity of cigarettes, $1,500 in cash, several perfumes, soft drinks, and other items, following which they escaped in a white Tiida motor vehicle.

Ag Sgt Howard and officers of the Cunupia CID, together with Central Division Task Force-North, ERP, Highway Patrol Central and other supporting units of the Central Division responded to the report.

Quick action by police led to the three suspects and the vehicle’s driver being apprehended along the Narsaloo Ramaya Marg Road, Chaguanas.

The TTPS confirms that police officers were able to recover the stolen items.  They also reportedly found and seized one FN pistol and a magazine containing six rounds of nine-millimetre ammunition.

Investigations are ongoing.
